conversation.

one day last week:

me: "pratt, how are those fries, buddy?"
pratt: "perfect.  just like jesus."

idk.  i wish i could be responsible for drilling this into his little head.  but i'm not.  maybe it's sunday school?  or mothers day out?  or maybe enough of us have said to him so many times, he gets it.

yesterday we had eaten lunch and he wanted to go to the library.  i told him i thought maybe taking a nap would be best.  then going to the library.  no.  he said, "no.  i take nap in car right now.  when i wake up, we be at the library.  k?  k, mom?  k?"

so that's what i did.  and we had a serious meltdown at the library when it was time to leave.  we had been there 1.5 hours.  and he freaked.  i carried him like a bundle of logs out of the library crying.  i don't know why or how people skip naps.  my child turns into the worst kid ever if we skip.

if he doesn't grow out out this nap need, he may have to move to south america.  isn't that where they take siestas?

anytime we meet someone new...like at walmart, at sonic, at the cleaners, library, etc.  he does this thing.  where as we are walking off, he says, "she nice lady, mom?  right?  nice, sweet lady?"  or "he a nice man, mom."

it's so funny.  usually the person he's talking about is still standing there.  which makes it even better.

i'm really bad about saying that.  when someone is helpful or kind, i always say (to no one in particular), "she sure was a nice lady" or "what a sweet little man."

and he's picked it up.  this is great....as long as the person is nice.

we have had encounters where the person wasn't so friendly.  or kind.  it's then that he will say, "uh, he not such a nice man.  what wrong with him, mommy?  why he not nice.  he not say hi to pratt."

just the other day we were at the drive thru at mcdonalds.  he kept screaming hello to the girl at the pay window.  she didn't hear him.  finally, he goes, "uh, hello lady!  pratt back here.  you not say hi to pratt! i right back here!!!"

it's pretty funny.  well, maybe just to me.  certainly not to the other "unfriendly" man.

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
