right before clint and i got married, we signed up for a marriage class through our church. it was led by a couple from the church...bart and amanda. there was one other couple in our class...and then another female. she was a psychiatrist. which made her comments and insight interesting and fun for clint and me.
the class ended in may of last year, i think. anyway, shortly after the class ended, amanda asked us to join their small group. there were five couples. they met every other sunday night for dinner and worship.
it didn't take any time to say yes to her. we were very excited to be a part of a group...not only to have friends...but more importantly, friends who could hold us accountable. we had no idea what our first year would bring...and we needed all the help we could get...i mean, why not, right?
we have been blessed beyond belief with this group. sunday night we met at our house. it was nice. i got to cook dinner and dessert...cooking is probably one of my favorite things to do. just because i feel so close to my mother when i cook. in a silly way, i feel proud that i have a little bit of her in me. because that is the only reason i'm able to cook...because of genetics. i mean, my dad was the breakfast cook while in the sigma chi house...but i devote most of the talent to her. but i'll never be as good as her. never, ever. clint knows this...and luckily, he's okay with it.
anyway...everytime we meet, i remember how lucky we are to have these people in our lives. as clint described them last night..."they are all such normal, godly people." normal in that we fit right in...and don't have to pretend to be anything we aren't. i can't describe how nice it is to know that no matter what we say...no matter what we bring to the table...they are not going to freak out. instead, i am confident that someone has been through it. i think that 2 of the couples have been married for somewhere around nine years. nine years! this means lots of advice...good advice for the rest of us.
anyway...i know this is random, but i just wanted to express how much this has meant to both clint and myself. we love you guys.

About Me

- i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
