for grandma and grandpa

i have such great memories of being a kid. and i always say that i wish i had known clint as a kid. i think we would have been great friends...and...i think that it would have saved me lots and lots of heartache. but i guess the things that don't kill us only make us stronger, right? that's a whole different subject.

anyway, last night we were sitting here talking about what we wanted for dinner. we wanted to cook something and watch a movie. for some reason, clint was reminded of these multicolored crackers that grandpa used to make when he was a kid. he said that they were really thin crackers, and you put them in a pot of oil, and they'd blow up. grandpa would buy them at the asian grocery store.

we decided to go to the asian grocer in little rock to see if we could find these crackers.

to be completely honest, i wasn't sure i would make it in the grocery store. i could smell the fishy smell about ten feet from the door. and anyone who has ever had the "pregnant nose" knows what i'm talking about. everything is stronger...good things and bad things. i can't do fishy stuff. i can't eat canned tuna for that very reason. my mother would take me to daycare about once a month...just so she could do things around town...and i would be force fed tuna fish. i really would. i would know that we were headed to daycare and i'd starting throwing up all over the car. tuna fish and vegetable soup. two things i don't like to this day because of that daycare.

anyway, we get in and somehow we find the crackers. they are actually shrimp crackers. and they're see through...and wafer thin. like, think pieces of plastic. that's what they look like. pre-cooked.

clint ended up frying several of them. he ate all of them. he was so cute eating them. so excited. told me that he remembered grandpa and grandma letting him make them. i loved it. and i realized that in only a few short years...we'll get to make those memories too. how much fun!

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
