two things.
well, no...three. that i need to remember.
one. i was changing pratt's diaper today. on his changing table. on the left side of the table, his lotions are all lined up there. and as i was changing him, he was on his little back...and he looked back, took both hands, and with one hand tried to push down the spout on the lotion. with the other hand, he acted like the lotion was being squirted out on his hand.
then he preceeded to rub his little hands together. just like i do right before i put lotion on him!!! it was so cute. so sweet. so observant. i laughed and laughed. i realized that he wasn't able to get any lotion on his hands. so i helped him out a little. and as soon as that cold lotion hit his hands, he giggled.
two. this afternoon after he had refused a cheese quesidilla and hot dog, but accepted 8 strawberries and 2 pieces of watermelon (go figure), he was on his 3rd piece of watermelon. i could tell he was pretty much done with it. i was washing dishes. and he was in his highchair by the table. several feet away from me. well, he was leaning over, hanging the watermelon over the edge...tempting ace.
i looked at him and said, "pratt, do not throw that on the floor." he looked up at me...leaving his little hand hanging off the table...with the watermelon hanging there. ready to drop it.
which is just what he did. he looked up at me. smiled. i didn't smile back. instead, i just stared at him. he got it. he understood. he knew he was in trouble. and y'all. the kid ever so slowly, closed his eyes.
YES! i kept looking at him. and he barely opened one eye...looked right at me...realized i was still looking at him...and quickly closed it. and GIGGLED! YES!!!!
he is going to be so....bad. yes, nana and cookie. BAD.
three. clint and pratt were playing in the floor tonight. pratt crawled up in clint's lap and literally took his hand...up to clint's face..showed him the bookshelf. clint got a book and read to him. exactly what pratt wanted.
had you asked me a year ago...i would have said there was no way a year old child could communicate so well with his parents. but he can. in his own way...he can.
this is so much fun :)
have great weekends!

About Me

- i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
