when we were in austria a couple of years ago, i started talking to grandpa about this. he can analyze handwriting...and i asked him to do mine. i was interested in what it would say about me. clint made fun of me because i wrote in all lowercase letters. grandpa was quick to stand up for me and said that it actually an admirable quality (to anyone except an english teacher, i'm sure. somewhere mrs. kirtley is so, so upset with me ;)
anyway, grandpa said that the lowercase writing just meant that i don't put myself above anyone else.
isn't that the best? i mean, don't we all strive to be that way. of course, i'm not. i mean, i try. but i fail miserably every single day. anyway, it was nice to hear it said about me...and in a way, has made me strive to be more of that person. that person that i wish i could be. that person i strive to be. that person i hope pratt grows up to be.
well, tonight i did another handwriting sample. and i thought it was pretty accurate. about my personality and such.
they had you write "she sells seashells by the seashore" in cursive. i hate cursive. the person who invented it should be killed in my opinion. it takes the beauty out of writing. it gets all sloppy and slanted and well, i hate it.
but i did it...and come to find out, if your "s" is "open at the bottom"...which mine is...here is what it said, "you might not be following your heart. for example, you have always wanted to be an artist, but you have a career in finance."
that's me. well, without the career in finance. i mean, i don't really have a career. but i'm not following my heart. i have always. always. always. wanted to be a writer.
when i was younger, that meant writing poetry. maybe that was because i can remember my dad reading me greek mythology. when other kids were getting "normal" bedtime stories, i was getting stories about the river styx...and narcissus.
i've always loved books. my mom has the greatest voices for the book "superfudge". one of my favorite judy blume books. she does fudge's voice the best. she would always say, "pee tah" for "peter". cracked me up.
anyway, i've always wanted to write. i'm not sure what it would be. and i'm not convinced that anyone outside of my immediate family would even purchase it. i've thought about writing a book about being a mom...but haven't we all? and do i have anything to say that hasn't already been said? probably not.
i thought about combining pratt's letters into a book. but who would want to read that besides pratt? :) i mean, seriously.
and then i've thought about writing a book about love. and boys. writing a book i wish i had read when i was in high school...maybe even junior high.
i don't know. i'm sure it's a pipe dream. but it's still a dream. maybe one day. probably not...but maybe.
in other news. hopefully, tomorrow we're heading to the beebe sale barn (that's for you, clara :). the weather is supposed to be beautiful. if you aren't lucky enough to be from the dream hometown, the sale barn is kind of like a flea market/farmers market in beebe. according to clint and other white county folk..."people come from all over". i'm not completely sure about that...but you can actually buy anything from guns to goats there. and everything in between.
clint says he can remember being a young boy, and being given a dollar. and he would walk around that place trying to figure out exactly what he wanted to buy with his dollar.
anyway, i'm so i'm excited and i hope that this is pratt's first visit of many. so it's there and then off to see the grandparents! yay!
have wonderful weekends!
ps. the entire time i've been writing this, this is what yoda has been doing. apparently the light is too bright for her. but she won't move from right beside me. i'm telling y'all..she is NOT a cat. she's a human, trapped in a cat's body.

I'd buy one. Fo sho.
write. it.
we all already know that whatever "it" is, it will be wonderful...and i think you'd surprise yourself...do it
How funny that I came home from walking the dog to find this on your blog. I ran into Lindsey while walking and we were talking about the fact that there hadn't been a blog since the "never will dos". We both agreed that you need to write a book. I know that she and I will buy one. So go for it. Love Mom
I did the same handwriting analysis yesterday afternoon. so funny.
i would totally buy a book about the sale barn for anderson. he would grow up thinking it was another fairy tale story and then one christmas in arkansas, i'd make all his dreams come true.
so, what are you trying to say since i write in all caps? i'm converting so clint's grandpa won't think i'm a snob.
ummm my best friend and I went to the Beebe farmers market and got a goat. Swear. One summer. 2004. We named him Sampson. And he lived in her house like a dog. Slept at the end of her bed. Rubbed his little horns on the door to go out. No joke. He was the greatest. Kept him for a year. Then he got hit by a car. So sad. RIP Sammy
