dear pratt.

dear pratt,

you're growing up so fast. it's making my head spin. literally.

tonight you were crawling as fast as you could down the hallway towards the front door. your daddy was behind you and when you stopped long enough to look back...you'd see him, laugh...and then crawl even faster just giggling away.

daddy started saying, "bye bye pratt" and waving to you. and as clear as i've ever heard it...you said, "bye bye."

you're such a sharp little boy. tonight at dinner, daddy and i were talking. and i guess we weren't paying as much attention to you as you would have liked. you let us know about it by whining.

this is weird for us because it's something you rarely do. the things that would typically cause you to whine...like being sleepy or hungry...instead of whining, you stick those two middle fingers in your mouth. we all know what that means...and voila...problem solved.

well, tonight, you were mad. and fussy. and whiny.

and so when you started it up, we both knew there was nothing wrong with you. and so your daddy said in his most stern voice, "pratt. there is nothing wrong with you. we are right here. you are okay."

and i promise that immediately you understood. i think it was his voice. the change in his voice.
you are totally into your books. when we get on the floor...which is where we spend most of our time these days, you always go to certain books. i'm funny about taking care of books, so right now, the only ones we really "play" with are the board books. you love them. you love to "turn the page" for me. you're a good page turner.

we love you more than you'll ever think humanly possible. until you have children of your own. it's then you'll understand how we feel. and how everything we do...we do it with thoughts of you. always trying to make the right decisions. always putting you first. always thinking of how things will affect you.

so as you get older, and think i'm the most horrible mom in the world...always know that i'm doing my best. i know i will fail you. and i hate that. i'm not perfect. but i promise that i'm trying.

i love you little pumpkin.

I'm so glad that you have finally realized that everything I did for you and Spencer was in your best interest or at least I thought it was!!!!! You are a great mom with a great little boy.

Hannah, once again, i'm gonna tell you how much i love reading your blog...you are such a wonderful mom and i have to say that i am so envious that you get to stay home with pratt. i know that he loves it so much! i feel like i miss out on so much while graham is at daycare but right now, it's just what we have to do.
i can't believe how much they are growing up. it's just unbelievable.
graham ripped the pages of one of his sound books the other day and i literally started crying. ha! I cannot stand to see books treated that way. i tried to tell him that it wasn't nice...but he just smiled and carried on with his business.

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
