dear pratt.

dear pratt,

you are at your nana's. you've been there since friday around 4. when i left you, you were happily playing with a toy she bought you. one of those little saucers with things to press, that light up and make noise. i bent down to kiss you and you accepted one kiss and then quickly pushed me away with your right hand.

while it was funny...it was also a little heartbreaking. because you will do that to me so often as you continue to grow up. i'll embarrass you and you'll push me away and probably say something like, "gah...come on mom. quit."

i feel like i'm missing a part of my body without you. things have gotten so easy. i mean, we never take your bag anywhere anymore. i know when you'll be hungry and you rarely surprise me with anything. i can pretty much handle anything thrown at me. and that's a big deal. because i wasn't always that good. but i'm learning. and you're making it so easy for me. so thank you.

nana took you shopping with her. she said you did such a great job. you're such a good shopper. and such a great, great baby. i know that all parents say this...but as you get older, i hope you realize that you really were the best. you are so easy going. so calm. i am afraid to ever try for another...because i couldn't get this lucky twice. or four times according to your daddy. whatever. he's nuts.

anyway, last night daddy and i went to a little party for a friend getting married. while we were there, gene bramblett...(he and barbie are the ones who snuck into the nicu to see you by acting like my grandparents. long story, but you'll grow up one day and find this not surprising at all.) anyway, gene said to me last night at the party, "hannah, i have one iphone and six grandkids. and i have probably six pictures of them on my iphone. your dad on the other hand has one iphone and one grandchild. and he has 555 pictures of pratt on that phone."

i thought it was so funny. and exactly right. well, after talking to poppy he said he has 448 pictures of you. that's he has deleted some of the blurry ones. but when i told him this, he pulled out his phone. and i must admit that the pictures of you start with the one of my big ole belly. it was taken in your daddy's office one week before you were born.

the next one is him holding you the day you were born. and then they go for 10 long months...all the way up to the last time you were in hot springs with them.

he was so proud showing those pictures to me. and i can only imagine how many times he has shown them. he is so proud of you.

so many are so proud of you. your daddy. me. your grandparents/great grandparents on all sides. your aunts. your cousins. our good, good friends.

so many people love you. my hope is that you always feel this love. that you always know that we would do anything in the world for you.

i can't wait to see you this afternoon. i've missed you like crazy.

love, mommy.

ps. here is a picture nana sent me saturday. it's you playing with your new vtech laptop. what an appropriate gift from randy...i mean, that is his speciality after all! thank you randy!

just so you know, not every parent says they have an easy baby. i definetly don't have an easy one. lucky for him, he's cute. i read a book while i was pregnant that was a day-by-day journal. it explained what was developing each day. each day i prayed for that development to be perfect. well, i forgot to pray for the happy baby that sleeps all night and takes naps! if he could promise me he'd be healthy forever, i'd gladly continue to get up with him every night until he's 30! you are lucky that pratt is such a happy, healthy, AND cute baby!

sarah, zane's cuteness (mostly his sweet little mouth) make up for the fact that he doesn't sleep all night :)

well...yes, yes it does.

and isn't it so true? i would do ANYTHING, and i mean anything to ensure pratt's health.

we are really, really blessed.

you know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. - dr. seuss

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
