i have been blessed with some of the best teachers. school teachers, more specifically.
dr. trey berry. i'll never be able to call him "trey". even though he has asked me to. i just can't do it. something about how he'll always be "dr. berry" to me.
he was a history professor at ouachita. and THE reason i was a history minor. i didn't really need the minor. i just knew that by graduation, i would have so many hours from taking his classes. i think i took everything the man taught during my four years.
his wife kathy was the first person i spoke to at ouachita. i wasn't supposed to be a tiger. i was supposed to go to the university of alabama. i was enrolled there....had classes...had a roommate. but i went for a visit, about a month before school started. and i hated it. it was not me. AT ALL.
for reasons i'm sure of now (ie. my husband and my dearest friends), God led me to ouachita.
my parents didn't think it would be a good idea. it was either fayetteville or out of state for me...as far as they were concerned.
so i drove to a pay phone. at a gas station. in fairview. dropped money in and called 1.800.dial.obu.
and kathy berry answered. she sent me a packet on ouachita. and when my mom took me up to tour the campus that next week, she was the person to show me around.
they had a son several years ago. and they've recently adopted a little girl from china. their story is incredible. it can't help but be. they are two of the most incredible people i know.
so say a prayer for them. and visit their link. it's the last link on my list of friends.
enjoy. and may God bless you all.

About Me

- i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.

who doesn't love them?! she was the first person I talked to as well. thanks for giving us updates. I hadn't heard anything in a while. such sweet pics of that precious family and i feel old b/ ci remember when she was pregnant their son.
thanks for the obu post. i am continually amazed at how God brought all of us...teachers, students, parents...together because he knew exactly what we all needed. i didn't learn a whole bunch there...i believe i probably should have read the history book instead of just falling asleep with it on my lap...but i did learn how to be a good friend and what it meant to invest in people. and the words to all the cool praise and worship songs.
emily, you might be the ONLY person who didn't "learn a whole bunch there"...well, you and maybe ryan hardin (because he already knew it all..and i'm being quite serious).
but i learned how to clean an entire dorm room. so clean it would make miss hannigan proud.
and yes, we also learned the words to praise and worship music. but you already knew all that too...i learned those...
and i'm proud to report that i feel fully responsible for teaching you curse words. not that you ever used them...but you sure heard them from his horrible baptist...oh wait, i'm not baptist...that's right...there was a convo once about how i wasn't going to heaven unless i was baptized...
i should get on that...:)
