first, i'd like to say thank you for your comments and messages in regards to my workout journey. i really can't explain what it feels like to have almost completed 90 days of something.
several of you asked how i found the time. i'm glad you did :)
it varies. some mornings i wake around 5 and workout. most of the workouts in p90x are around 50 to 60 minutes long. i'll be honest. i don't ever do the stretching at the end. so that usually takes around 5 to 7 minutes off the total time.
on the mornings i get up at 5, i find i feel best on those days. i eat healthy meals. i don't crave sweets and sugar. at first, around 3 i would be exhausted. but once i started really sticking with it, i wasn't tired. however, i do have to go to sleep by 10 if i'm gonna wake at 5.
monday and wednesday, pratt goes to mothers day out. from 9 to 2. max takes his first nap around 9. and it's usually an hour to an hour and a half. so i work out when he's napping at 9. i TRY to do it then because it's so easy. this does mean that by the time i'm either getting in the shower or about to get ready, he's up. and ready to play. so we have been doing a LOT of playing on the bathroom floor. we do a TON of peek-a-boo from the shower. he eats lots and lots of cheetos while i shower and blow dry my hair. but you moms understand that. multitasking. it goes hand in hand with motherhood. or as my friend rachel says, "smotherhood". amen.
and finally, more days than not, pratt and i do our "exercises" together. he loves it. he loves tony horton. he loves my weights. he loves drinking the water. he loves jumping up and down.
but he most loves asking me a million and ten questions when i'm about to die and i'm out of breathe and sweating profusely. that's what he really loves to do. and sometimes he will walk to the pantry, get a bag of chips or little debbie nutty bar and bring it into the living room WHILE i'm working out and proceed to eat it while doing his "exercises".
so yes, it's not an ideal workout situation. i'm often interrupted to get max. or help pratt wipe. or whatever else you can imagine. but it works. and i'm "doing my best and forgetting the rest". so that's winning in my book.
to answer one of the questions, yes. i started from nothing. i had tried p90x before, but had never stuck with anything. well, i did workout with my friend whitney after she had her baby like a million years ago. but i had not done anything consistently since then.
as silly as it sounds, i talked to clint about it. like, really opened up to him about it. told him things that i hadn't talked about before. about how i hated my legs. and how i had fat, saggy knees. how i was the most self conscious i had ever been. and i won't go into much detail, but it was really affecting mine and his relationship. i was uncomfortable with myself. and he didn't understand why. there was a HUGE lack of communication.
i want to stress that i'm happy how i am. i still have work that needs to be done. but i'm not through. i'm 32. and i've had 2 children. and so my stomach will probably always have a little loose skin on it. but there are abs there. i never knew they were still there. you won't ever catch me on facebook in a bikini. or in booty shorts. because this is my body. not yours. and so my weight and my results look different on me.
as i said before, i dropped 2 sizes. here are my measurements from day 0, day 30 and day 60.
weight: 132/129/126
waist: 32/30/29
hips: 36/35/34
chest: 35/33/32
right arm and left arm: 11/10.5/10
right thigh: 20.5/19/19.5
left thigh: 21/20/19.5
that's over 18 inches, i think.
aside from working out, i did do shakeology for the first 30 days. and still, every once in a while, i'll add it to oatmeal and eat it. but i'm not really a fan of it. mostly because it gets old. quick. but i think it's great. and i wish i could force myself to eat it daily. i just can't. oh well.
i hear max stirring. i hope this helps. and i hope it motivates at least one person to get up and do something. i cannot tell you how unhappy i was. i dreaded summer. i dreaded swimsuits. i mean, i'm not looking forward to finding a bathing suit for the bahamas or anything...BUT, i won't cry in the dressing room. and i'm definitely not gonna be rocking jeans all summer long. which is what i did last summer. hot, hot, hot.
have great mondays.

About Me

- i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.

I am sooooo proud of you!!!!! Loved reading about your journey--you rock!!! Love ya girl!!
So impressed! I have the p90x videos and want to get back into it..even if Tony totally creeps me out :)
When P was here a few weeks ago, as I had started my bath water one morning, he told me that he and his mom did exercises every morning and asked if we could do them. I started my Jane Fonda Prime Time Fit and strong ( for us older folks). We started stretching and bending and he said "cookie, this isn't willy bery good....my mom and I do harder p90". With that I turned it to cartoons and got in the tub.
