sick.

my little guy is sick.  so sick that he fell asleep at 920 am this morning in his ladybug tent.

i'm fairly confident that he hasn't fallen asleep anywhere besides his bed since he was 4 months old.  it's not that i don't like for it to happen.  it's just that he's gotten used to sleeping in his bed.  at naptime and bedtime.

i was putting up dishes and it had been a few minutes and i didn't hear him talking.  i went in and found him inside the tent.  passed out.  with his b and my favorite blanket from childhood.  he wasn't even watching tv.  just crawled inside and fell fast asleep.

we went to the doctor yesterday and he diagnosed him with a sinus infection.  put him on an antibiotic and said he should be much better by wednesday.

his fever didn't spike last night at 3 am like it has the past 3 nights.  but of course, i woke up at 302 am.  ready for him to wake up.  i went in and checked on him and he wasn't hot.  so i didn't bother trying to give him motrin.

he came to our room around 6 with a fever.  so hot that it radiated through his clothes.  his head, torso, legs, feet...everything was hot.

i hate fever.  it takes at least an hour to get it down.  i'd say it was at least 103 this morning.  i'm getting pretty good at judging it based on touch alone.

dr. s. commented yesterday that in the past 2 years, he has been a "pretty healthy child".  i about fell off my chair.  i feel like i'm constantly in that office.  like they know my name.

he's only been on 2 antibiotics since the nicu.  which according to the doctor is awesome.  this made me feel better.  i so appreciate the care we get at that office.  as clint said the other night, antibiotics are wayyy over used.  and for a doctor to say, "let's give it 10 days and see what happens"....that right there proves his confidence in what he does.  and that makes me feel better.

there was a mom in the waiting room yesterday when we arrived.  she had a newborn baby and a son that looked to be about 3.  he was screaming at her that he was not going to see that "toopid" doctor.  she was standing there holding this infant carrier, a diaper bag, a purse...all while trying to drag this child to the back.  i felt so sorry for her.

i wanted to go over to the kid and jerk him up by his shirt.  i think it would have scared him and he would have followed my directions.  sometimes i wish people would do it to pratt.  he's scared of everyone but me.  seriously.  he really is.  clint can look at him and he just flips out.  my head could pop off and he'd still be looking at me like, "so your head popped off.  i wonder when that would really happen.  but whatever mom.  what.ev.er."

i have so much i need to do, but all i can manage is sitting here surfing the net.  clint totally didn't follow our "no christmas gift" rule and he got me a desktop mac.  it's unreal.  like, seriously.

larry and stacy had it at their house and when larry brought it down christmas eve, they put it in the garage. i was busy making cake balls and didn't know.  clint came in and said, "okay.  do you want your gift tonight or tomorrow?"

i said, "you weren't supposed to get me a gift."

he said, "it's not a big deal.  something small from pratt."

i said, "tomorrow."

he then said, "okay.  well, it's in the garage with a sheet over it."

that did it.  i ran from the kitchen to the garage.  it had his favorite abc blanket over it.  i looked up at his face and he was giving me the same smile he gave me at our wedding.  that "i am so freaking excited about this" smile.

i pulled the blanket up and saw where the box said "imac" and had the apple and the biggest computer screen picture i had ever seen.

i started crying.  yes.  and i think i might have said, "shut up. shut up.  shut up."

and then maybe even went on to say, "this is better than my engagement ring."

which of course, IT'S NOT.  but i mean, freaking a.  he was NOT supposed to get me a present.  i was thinking it was an angel ornament.  but no.  it was a mac.  a desktop mac with a 27 inch screen that is so big that you literally have to turn your head to see the entire thing. it's like i'm at an imax movie.

so that's what i've been doing.  every chance i get.  the internet is so fast on here.  it's heaven.  really, it is.

okay.  i hear pratt stirring.  have wonderful tuesdays.

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
