meeting santa.

well, i swore i would never force my child to sit on santa's lap. i mean, kind of like i swore i'd never use my own saliva to wipe his face.

and i broke that. just like i broke that santa's lap thing.

sort of.

this morning our church had a pancake breakfast. santa was the special guest and i thought it would be great for pratt to meet our "church" santa. you know, because we've all seen that horrible movie with that man from malvern...billy bob. where he is the alcoholic santa. and according to david sedaris, the santas in macy's are pretty freaky too. so i felt like we were safe with our church santa. and we were. he had a wonderful beard. and seemed really sweet.

as we were standing in line, i mentioned to clint. "gosh...i was really hoping some kid would cry. scream, maybe. be scared of santa."

clint said, and i quote, "well..hang on a minute. our child might do just that."

i said, "oh no. that starts at like 2 or 3. not 1. he will love him."

see for yourself.

here we are waiting in line. and yes, busted lip. i can't even talk about it. it hurts my heart everytime i see it. he fell and i think bit his lip. it's horrible.

still ok. not really thrilled about walking up there...but whatever.

still good. hasn't seen his face yet.

and now we're done.

i love it. he's reaching for clint, looking at me. and i absolutely love santa's face.

so, i got my wish. some kid did cry and scream. it was my kid.

and pratt, i promise to never make you do it again. next year, you can say yes or no. i don't blame you. he's not wearing a mask...but he's totally freaky.

that is the funniest santa picture ever!! i have never tried it myself, due to horrific memories from childhood. i liked santa, but not any of the mall or church santas. i only liked the "real" santa, and somehow i knew that these santas were total fakes and i was scared to death of any man weird enough to dress up like and pretend to be "the real thing". instead, the real santa would sneak around in our yard on christmas eve and run off to another house when he discovered that he was being watched through the window. that was thrilling enough for us! (plus, everyone knows that the real santa doesn't show up in photographs anyway!)

Santa doesn't even seem aware of what is going on. Seriously!

Bless Pratt's sweet heart. And yours. But I am laughing so hard. Out loud. That is seriously the best Santa picture ever.

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
