will and grace.

the following conversation could be heard this morning on the way to sonic (happy hour one).

p: hey mommy, daddy tode me that some snakes bite.  but some snakes don't bite.  i need to know why.  wook it up on that b.pewter (computer/iphone) of yours and wet me know what you find out.  fanks.

of note: he doesn't breathe at any point in that sentence.  he takes a breath, then shakes that off, then takes another breath, then closes his mouth.  and waits.  waits on me to google it.  after all, that's what he's talking about.  google.  he wants me to google it.

because i google everything.  which reminds me that i must remember those child encyclopedias next time i'm at mom and dad's.  because he will love them.

anywho.  back to the conversation...

h: well, i'm driving right now.  but i'll google it when we get home.  k?

p: okay.  then let's whyme (rhyme) something.  how 'bout...how 'bout we whyme houses.

i can't remember if i've talked about the rhyme game.  we pick a topic, or a "suject" as pratt says.  he picks it.  then i give clues.  and a word that rhymes with the answer.

h: okay. houses.  um, this is the top of a house.  it provides shelter and it rhymes w-

p: a woof!!! a woof!!! got it.  next one.  next one, mom.  whyme another mom.

still, no breathing.  just straight talking.

h: okay.  this is the room in the house where you make meals. it rhy-

p: a kitchen!  next one, pwease.

h: why don't you wait on me to give you a rhyming word.  otherwise, this is just like jeopardy.  and we should change the name of the game.

p: what's jeopardy?

h: a game show.

p: wike the wheel?  (wheel of fortune.  totally embarrassing.  but we watch it every single night.)

h: yes, like wheel.  okay. anyway, next.  this is a room in house whe--

p: mudroom!

just call us will and grace.  seriously.

Precious! Of course now I'm waiting on a follow up as to why some snakes bite and why some don't....

We watch that every night too. Or at least it is on in the background. Except I always want to call it Win, Lose, or Draw, which drives Josh nuts.

Your blog reminds of so many childhood memories. Wheel of Fortune, for instance, brought back a flood of memories. When I lived at home, it was ritual to eat supper at 5, watch the 5 o'clock news(ch. 4 of course), the nightly news, 6 o'clock news and then Wheel of Fortune every night. Afterwards, my mom and I would have our talks most of the evening. And I now can't go a night without talking to her on the phone. These are memories I will cherish always and to be able to re-make them with my children is priceless. Even though it is something as simple as watching wheel of fortune:)

p.s. I just love your blog. you should seriously write a book. I almost positive it would be a best seller.

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
