how to feed a cat, by pratt.

step one: get your mom to help you open the cat food container. or if you're like me, you've already ripped off the top of the container so you can play in the cat food anytime you want. or the trash. cause i like to play in the trash too.

step two:
dip the cat's food bowl into the food. scooping it with the bowl as not to get your hands "chewy chewy". (yucky, whatever. this is what we call it. he can say "chewy chewy".)

an aside. there are so many great things about that picture. one. he only has on one sock. two. you can see our recycling bin behind him. one of them. for paper. andy and clara, are you proud of me? three. that shelf directly behind pratt is his own shelf. it houses his foods. so he is able to get whatever he wants from there and eat it. and finally, look how excited he is about feeding yoda. precious.

step three:
carry the bowl ever so carefully to where your kitty cat eats. if you need to, you can hold the bowl completely against your shirt so you don't spill any pieces.

step four:
bend down and roll the bowl onto its desired position.

and voila! all done!

let me add one thing. this simple "help" taught me so much. i could flip out about how he carries the bowl. i could ask him to carry it like i would carry it. or any way but to hold it against his shirt for fear of something falling out the side. maybe onto the floor.

but is it really worth it? is it really worth correcting him?

the answer i've come up with is no. absolutely not. this is the way he does it. this is the way my little boy does it.

and truth be told, i think it's a wonderful way to do it.

may i never forget this. may i never forget the life/parent/slow down and smell the roses lesson i learned today.

happy thursday.

I think everything about how YOU do things with Pratt is "just perfect." You are amazing to me. It never would have occurred to me to even ask Madeline if she wanted to feed the dog at 16 months old. You give him so much freedom to be Pratt and you have so much faith in who he is and how much he comprehends. Oh my gosh Hannah. You are just the best.

I'm giddy with how cute this post is. It makes me want to show it to other people and say "can you believe this adorableness?" honestly, I don't know you live with him - how do you not combust from cute overload everyday?

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
