dad was late getting home from hunting. and i was pretty upset about it. i was. i was exhausted. and i'm pretty stingy with my weekends being a "family". so i'm not a good hunters wife.
pratt, ace and i decided to play outside in the front yard until he got home. we were having a few "cabin fever" issues. well, clint pulls up and gets out of the truck. i'm busy snapping pictures of pratt...and don't even look over at clint. but i hear him say, "it's a girl!!".
and i immediately think he has killed a girl deer. ugh. i hate deer hunting. i don't eat the meat because i think it tastes wild. like outside, wild. and so i don't see the point. i realize that it should be okay if you're eating the meat and all...but i just plain don't like it.
i don't like guns. or the "sport" of hunting. if you can even call it that. i mean, men set up deer feeders. hide themselves in camo. and sit up in the trees waiting on a deer to walk by. yeah...totally "sport" to me.
not.
sport is tennis. or basketball. or even football. sport is practice. and sitting in a tree waiting on something to come up and eat because you've set up a feeder is not sport. it's called given. it's called a plan.
what.ev.
okay. back to my story. so i'm thinking clint is pulling up with a dead deer. but no. he has a puppy dog!!!
yes, the puppy dog is a girl!
clint had been wanting a dog for many months. we have ace and clint thought ace needed a friend. so, ace now has a friend. a little girl. i've named her scout. after scout finch. and i think it might be my best animal name ever. i mean, it's a great name. named after a great literary character and it fits. she is a hunting dog. and scout means "to find, search, hunt", right? perfect.
here she is meeting pratt and ace.

ace and scout now reside in our backyard. that means no more dog hair for me...but lots of worry about ace becoming an outdoor dog. he's never been an outdoor dog. last night he did really well. never whined. i think it's because she's with him and she's never known any different. i believe she's 6 weeks old.
i tried not to get attached to her because then i'll just worry more, but i can't stop myself. she's adorable.
here everyone is playing.

and finally, here is my new favorite picture of pratt. so precious.

awww, that's awesome! There's nothing quite like a boy and his dog(s) is there? Did I ever tell you that my sister in law named her dog Atticus - another great name. That was a great book - and I know its one of your favorites. Anyway - Scout looks adorable. :)
I just told Andy that you got a dog and he got excited and wondered out loud if he could have Ace. Then he said he hopes Scout is a better hunting dog than Ace. Then he said you are terrible people for leaving Ace outside.
Just the messenger. I can't wait to see that cute pup!! Congrats on the girl!! She is so sweet with those little paws and rolls.
Oh Hannah she is precious and Pratt will love her just as he does Ace and Yoda. Always thought you would be a vet, but instead a mom with lots of pets. Can't wait to meet Scout. Bet Pratt can say it since its so much like SKEET
yay!!! julep has a new friend!!!!!
Soooo cute!! A girl at work named her new little BABY scout. I was kinda perplexed but understood the love of literary characters. What kind of dog is scout?
By the way, I saw New Moon and loooooved it. It was my least fav book but the movie was awesome. Maybe it's easier for me to see depression on screen than read it in a book...When Jacob took his shirt off to wipe Bella's head the whole audience sighed in unison. It was hilarious. When Edward was first seen walking towards Bella at school, I got butterflies like a 7th grader...pathetic!! :-D
