sugar.

i've recently been reminded of the importance of family. more specifically, my sister.

it's quite possible that she loves pratt as much as clint and i do. to pratt, she is known as "sugar". which is perfect. because i know that as he gets older, and spends more time with her, all of those times will be sweet. sweet as sugar.

rarely does a morning pass when she hasn't texted or called to say good morning to him. and that she loves him and misses him. i found the first text so sweet...but have realized that with each one...they mean more and more to me, and i know to him too.

i was reading emily's blog today and read where her little girl said she wanted to be a chef and a dancer. i thought this was so sweet. so youthful. dreamy. wonderful.

it made me think of spencer. and how she used to always say that she wanted to be a hairdresser and a lawyer. when we'd question her on doing both these things, she would tell us that her plans involved cutting hair...and while doing so, she'd talk to the client about their divorce. it was always a divorce for some reason. i guess because when dad would come home from work, that's what we'd hear. stuff about divorces. they were hard for him, i think. i think it's tough when there are kids involved. this stuck with spencer.

so that was her plan. cut, bleach, fix the hair and discuss the case.

i remember these days. the days of believing you can be anything you want. and i wonder when i stopped believing. i wonder what happened. i guess maybe in my case it's that i'm 29 and still have dreams. only now when i say that i want to go to nursing school to be a nicu nurse, no one takes me seriously. instead, my dad and clint roll their eyes and say, "here we go again..."

much like emily's little juliette, i hope pratt has big dreams. be it a firefighter or a brain surgeon...a chef or an author. whatever it is, i hope that i'm never guilty of crushing those dreams. i hope that i always remember how important it is to let him decide. and as clint says, " as long as he's able to financially support himself and his family...he can do whatever his little heart desires".

and if for some reason, the funds don't work out...i'll be there. i already know that i will.

so to sugar...if i ever fall down on these promises...remind me of this post.

maybe he'll be a school teacher. maybe he'll be as good as you. let's hope so.

we love you.

There is nothing like a sister! I know that my heart has almost burst at times with love for Breanne. She IS my heart.

I am saying this for the 801th time since you said it the 800th time but we HAVE to be related. I have said...after our time with Garrison in the NICU...that if I ever go back to school, I will go to nursing school to be a NICU nurse. I'm not kidding. Maybe we can do it together!

You are so precious to me and I am so grateful to call you friend. My heart is just about to burst!

Sugar...so sweet, so southern. I love it. I wish my sister lived closer. You and Pratt are so lucky. And by the way, he'll be the smartest kid in school, just like Mom and Daddy.

spencer really is special. i admire her, and yes, you are really, really lucky for pratt to have an aunt that is so in love with him.

Hey Hannah I found your blog through Tanna's and have soo enjoyed keeping up with you, Clint, and now Pratt. The way you write direclty from your heart about your new experiences with motherhood absolutely steals mine! Email me sometime...we all need to get together...and if nothing else I'll send you access to be able to view my blog so we can reconnect!

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
