more things random.

so yesterday pratt made it up two stairs before i could get to him. seriously.

in about 10 seconds, he was over to the staircase and up two stairs. he turned around and just smiled at me. needless to say, we now have a gate up.

babies r us is one of my favorite place. i loved registering there and i still love going and seeing everything i wish i could buy. last night when we stopped to get a gate, we also bought an xl playyard. i know, i know...it sounds really bad...but we have stained concrete. and when i need to void...i have no way of keeping pratt enclosed. so the playyard will come in handy, i'm sure.

we also bought him some new bathtub toys. they are little spiky creatures that will squirt water and they come with a basketball net thing. he LOVES them. of course he does. as grandma said yesterday, he's like a sponge right now. he is intrigued by everything around him. clocks, posters, toys, fan chains, etc. anything and everything.

in other words, he's a cheap date :)

and here pratt is on the fourth. nana bought him these gap jammies. i love them. gap pjs and target/carter pjs are our faves.

and here are pratt and anderson. i love how pratt is talking to him. and holding his hand. so sweet.

the "o" face.

so pratt has been doing this new expression. i think i mentioned it last post. he'll just suddenly open his mouth in a big "o". my friend lindsay asked me if he was watching "dora", because apparently boots does this face. well, we actually did watch dora for the first time today....but i don't think that's where he got it. because he's been doing it a while now.

it's absolutely hysterical. i mean, he just randomly makes the "o" face. i feel like he could be the spokesperson for overstock.com or something. and once he does it, and you laugh. then he'll laugh. and then randomly he'll do it again.

today i was trying to get some pictures of me and him. because he's in my favorite summer "outfit" as mandy says. and yes, mandy...i totally agree. it's an "outfit". anyway, he kept making the "o" face as soon as the orange light would blink on the camera. he would hear the beep, beep countdown and see the light...and bam...."o" face.

so here are a few shots. it's so funny to see his personality begin to come out. i can already tell he is going to keep me laughing all the time. just like his daddy does.

a while back i hung some pictures in our bedroom. on this one wall that was empty. bad empty. and i've never put any pictures in the frames. it's just the mat that came with it. and it's a little blonde girl hugging her mom. pretty dorky. a few days ago i mentioned doing something different on that wall. i don't like the frames. so i had (in passing) said something about meaning to take them down.

so last night clint and i were in bed. just laying there. he was reading. i'm not sure what i was doing. but out of nowhere, he puts his book down and goes (in this dead serious voice), "i'm really going to miss them. i feel like i know them." talking about the girl and her mom.

and he never cracked a smile. pretty sure that's how pratt will be.

randoms.

here are a few pictures i've taken recently.

he changes so much day to day. the other morning we were walking when i looked down at the top of his head. he has so much blonde hair. and it's getting so curly. there are wads of hair. i mean, it seems like just yesterday he had just a few wisps. time is going by way too fast.

he is talking all the time now. when anderson came over for a visit, they just jabbered together. he is pointing at everything and wanting to go over and get a closer look. once you get close to whatever he's looking at, he starts to smile. and then he will carefully touch whatever it is with one finger. his pointer finger. but he's extremely cautious.

he loves his john deere atv. it plays music. and somehow he knew just what to do with the handlebars. i mean, he just put his little hands up there and then his feet.

he has the biggest, longest eyelashes. and yet, he will never use them.

and he's pulling up and standing on everything. if you're near, he'll reach out to you and take a few steps. but i don't think he's anywhere near really walking. he's wayyy too wobbly. he tries to bite the coffee table. well, he does bite it. now i understand why people with kids have no decoration...no baubles sitting out on the tables. he pretty much puts all of it in his mouth and then looks at it, and slings it to the floor.

oh..and then there is his new expression. the "o" face. hilarious. i'm not sure why he does this. i don't know where he saw it.

he is such a little joy. and i can't remember what i did before he arrived. what a blessing.

ps. i've noticed that the blog doesn't always ask you to log in. i'm not sure what's up with this. i mean, it's set to private. but spencer said something to me about it. and i just thought she had clicked "remember me" and it wasn't asking her for a password. but apparently, not. it happened to me too. so, just an fyi for those of you out there who have also set your blogs to private.

rip mj.

i can remember it like it was yesterday.

watching that video. being terrified. worrying about the girl. his girlfriend. knowing that she didn't know that his eyes would turn colors when he looked back at the camera.

you know, thriller.

it's hard to imagine that pratt will grow up in a world without michael jackson. i mean, i know that spencer says she isn't surprised that he's dead. but a little piece of my childhood died when he died. silly, maybe. but oh so true.

i can remember dancing to his music. i loved all of it. there was just something about it. something that made you want to get up and move. and attempt to moonwalk. and attempt to wear that red, leather jacket and glove...and not look completely dorky.

i know i'm the only person in america who isn't sick of seeing the coverage. i'm not tired of it yet. it's not real to me yet. well, the part that's real is that i heard on npr yesterday that the city of los angeles will spend 2.5 million on his "funeral fesitivities" today. that is real. and depressing. depressing for everyone else in america that could use food or shelter. 2.5 million. wow. all for a funeral.

anyway, i guess i'll go download itunes songs. maybe we can have a dance party later. i may fall asleep midway through it...but oh well. pratt probably won't notice.

ps. let this be a reminder that i'm going stir crazy. i don't want to get out of the house for fear of spreading my germs. yet, i find myself here on this computer typing, "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy". could that be problematic?

a.dorable.

"mono week"

that was the title of the pictures mom sent me last night. i had to laugh because it was pretty appropriate.

my days have all run together, but best i can remember...she got pratt on tuesday and then i got him back on friday. well, i went and stayed friday night in hot springs with them because clint was on a float trip with his bff. so, i stayed there friday night and then brought pratt back to benton on saturday.

i'm feeling much better. still pretty tired. like first trimester of pregnancy tired. like, i'll start to feel good and get up to vacuum and afterwards i'm completely exhausted. that sounds so histrionic...but it's true. i promise.

judging from the pictures, pratt had a wonderful time with cookie and poppy (name change. poptart to poppy. he hated poptart. maybe next we'll have a symbol like prince or something).

i think he went to several dinner parties. and probably ate better than ever before in his life. cafe 1217 has become his favorite place for lunch :) cookie bought him lots of new toys. made him his own chicken turnovers and i'm pretty sure he was constantly played with.

the caterpillar is a leap frog toy. he was really strange with it. instead of wanting to play with the top part, he was way more interested in figuring out how the wheels worked, etc. he kept turning it over and checking it out. i'll refrain from discussing how this worries me. oh well. maybe it just means he's like his great uncle ryp and will be an engineer.

and the baby einstein book was hilarious. he just recently really got into it. you can push some of the buttons and it lights up and plays music. to which he dances. i sent it with cookie and pratt played with it in hot springs. however, he has this habit of getting his hand closed in the book. it's heavy and it hurts him. he'll start to cry and then place his other hand on top of the book...like he's trying to stop the pain or open the book but this only makes it worse...and heavier. so then he puts his head on the cover and just cries. it's really sad. but pretty funny to watch happen.

and the one of him on the floor. well, he found holes in the tile in kitchen. and he'd just stick his finger in the hole. i think at one point mom said she looked over and he had his tongue in it. great. that's healthy, i'm sure.

i'll update more later. i have some fourth of july pictures that i'll post. and pratt's doing some new things i need to document. love to you all.

happy first monday with no jon and kate! hopefully they are somewhere being kind to each other. right...right.

mono.

so, i have mono.

yes. remember how i said i wasn't feeling well. yeah...because i have mono.

my person, whitney (this only makes sense to you if you watch gray's)...anyway, she got me an appointment with a family doctor yesterday. at 115. she watched pratt the entire doctors visit.

anyway, if you need a family doctor in the little rock area, i can highly recommend dr. blake mcgowan. at little rock family practice clinic. corner of north rodney parham and highway 10.

i typically go into the doctor knowing that they will rush through everything. rarely looking up. not really listening. you see, my doctor from back home is dr. larry braden. he is honestly the closest thing to Jesus himself. i LOVE him. he is patient and kind. never interrupts. so incredibly softspoken. love him.

anyway, i haven't found anyone like him. and of course it's not feasible for me to drive to camden for the doctor.

well, i found him. dr. mcgowan. so incredibly nice.

so my fever was 103 something yesterday. the nurse said, "your little cheeks are red." and whitney said, "do you think maybe you have fever?". i said, "i dunno anymore. i'm always hot."

yes, i had fever. and my throat is nas.ty. he thought...and hoped it was strep. but the strep was negative. so it's mono. well, he assumes. something about how typically the mono test won't show up positive until you've had it for at least 7 to 10 days. the symptoms...

anyway, there isn't anything you can do about it. if you've never had it, consider yourself lucky. my muscles hurt all over. and my bones. (i was convinced i had multiple myeloma). and high fever. sore throat. hurts to swallow.

are you depressed yet? :)

anyway, cookie was so kind to come get pratt yesterday. dr. mcgowan said that he assumes that's what pratt's fever virus was about last week. that's pretty much all he would get from it. on the other hand, i got 4 to 6 weeks of getting over this.

cookie has pratt now. and we'll go from there. it's just so hard to play and be active for him when i have fever and feel as bad as i do.

please keep us in your prayers. clint is really tired of dealing with me :) i'm not a very fun sick person :) i get that honestly. i'm a hypochondriac...thanks dad!

anyway, pray that i kick this soon. sugar's wedding is july 25th. i have to feel better at that wedding. the flip side is that the temperature outside is PERFECT for me during those cold, fever shivers :)

have great days. i'll update pictures as soon as we do anything noteworthy!

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
