i've had several emails and messages about recipes for paleo.
there is one website that i LOVE.
multiply delicious
the southwest spicy egg muffins are my favorite breakfast food. the recipe will make (i think) 14 muffins. pratt and max both loved them. and you can alter what you put in them. i didn't make mine very spicy so they could eat them. i have found that they both really like simple foods. you know, foods that you can identify in the meal. they aren't big casserole kids. they don't like things blended up. or mixed up.
give them chicken, asparagus and a sweet potato...they are cool. i mean, they love mac n cheese from a cup...but they also love other things too.
try those egg muffins. you can keep them in the fridge for several days and heat them in the microwave when you're ready for one.
i just can't tell you how great that site is. everything i have tried, i have enjoyed. and she's really good about answering questions too.
i also have a board on pinterest.
some of my favorite on there: the paleo energy bars. the sweet potato "chip" recipe. cinnamon pecan crunch cereal. buffalo ranch chicken meatballs!! coconut chicken nuggets (i used chicken tenders, not ground chicken). paleo chicken salad snack wrap.
one thing you should be aware of. i REALLY highly encourage you to take 30 days and eat REAL FOOD for those first 30 days.
here's why:
when you start trying to eat differently, and the "right" way, there are all kinds of paleo foods that are good, sweet, sugar tooth foods that you will crave and want and think you should make every day.
like the banana bread muffins i made a while back. they are paleo. totally paleo. but they have a lot of fat in them. good fat. but fat none the less. and they are NOT meant to be eaten every.single.day. they are very much meant to be a treat item.
if you really follow the whole 30 meal plan...and attempt to eat clean for 30 whole days, i think you'll see a change FOR SURE in 30 days. yes, you will feel like dog poo for the first 10 days. but that's because your body is craving artificial stuff. processed sugar. diet coke. coke. m&ms. garlic bread. whatever.
paleo is not about finding ways to eat sweets. and bacon wrapped everything.
it's about eating foods that fuel you.
it's about eating foods that are meant to give you energy. that are meant to be used by your body so that you can be stronger. and in better health.
remember that. if you really do try this, please please please try to do the whole 30 first. just because it will get you in the right mindset.
this is coming from someone who has a sweet tooth the size of arkansas. honestly, you guys. i had 11 cavities once. ONCE. as in ONE VISIT I HAD 11 CAVITIES. yes. i mean, they didn't all need to be filled. a few did. but a "few" needed to be watched.
and i'm not all healed. easter was hard for me. because i saw 11593943 reese cup easter eggs. those things are crack.
but you know what's awesome? i had one. and then i walked away. and later that night, haley the halloween ferry (who comes at every holiday where there is candy) came and took all that crap to some other kid that didn't get to hunt eggs (read: the trashcan).
i still eat things i love. i just eat them in moderation. and finally, for the first time in my life moderation doesn't have guilt.
more information on whole 30....
i'll update with more stuff later. good luck! happy grocery shopping!
oh, and it's a perfect time for this. why? because the farmers markets are about to start. where better to get locally grown, good foods?! yay!!

- i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
