life.

To say that pratt and max love each other is an understatement.

To say Pratt ever wears clothes is ALSO an understatement.

I must document this moment. We had gone to get a snocone. He asked for tigers blood. I got him blue coconut. I was running on 3 hours of sleep. I get back to the car, hand him the blue snocone and he says in his sweet voice, "I asked you for tigers blood, but now I fink I want blue coconut instead, mommy."

Tears came to my eyes. He's such a sweet little guy. He seems to have grown up so much lately.

He and the cutest gymnast ever after a long class. I mean, look at her leg warmers!!!!

Superman is in pajamas on the couch,
Goodnight moon will find the mouse,
And I love you...

Woody loves almonds.

I tell him every single day. But it can never be said too much.

I love him more than i've ever loved anything else my entire life. I cannot wait to see how much my heart grows to see max and Pratt in 2 years. I can't imagine what life will be like. We are so blessed.

what's the diff-wence?

clint and i are talking.  about work.  about life.  about how pratt has been the best kid in the entire world the past few days.  pratt walks in from playing, raises his hand (because we're talking).  i say, "yes, babe?"

and he tilts his head to the side and he puts his hand up to his face.  his pointer finger taps on his cheek.  and he says,

what's the diff-wence be-tween gwasshoppers and frickets, momma?
what's the diff-wence be-tween cars and frucks, momma?
what's the diff-wence be-tween a dog and a fruck, momma?

if i could, i would pause my life here.  and i would replay it over and over and over again.  just to hear him say "diff-wence" and watch the wheels spin furiously in his head.

i'll repeat myself.  and give fair warning.  someone messes with him, they mess with me.

i might be 32.  but i'm not above pooping in a bag and lightin' that baby on fire.

just sayin'.

here's a video i got yesterday of the quizzical look with the pointer finger :)

tell me the story.

if you know me, you know i love nothing more than being told stories...and sharing my own.

i love hearing stories about my parents...before i was born and those from when i was too young to remember the day in and day out of real life.  i love clint telling me stories about his grandparents.  about going on vacations with them.  about his mamaw's cooking.  all of it.

i love nothing more than taking it all in.  trying to close my eyes and see it.  and imagine it.  and never, ever forget it.

and so it comes as no surprise that my pratt likes those stories too.

he has started asking for stories.  we will be in the middle of something and i'll tell him that i used to do the same thing when i was his age.  and he will always reply, "tell me the story, momma."

tears come to my eyes when i think about it.  about his innocence.  about his little face looking up at me.  those gigantic brown eyes.  just waiting.  waiting on me to talk.  waiting to hear about when i was a "wittle gurl".

and so i always do.  he loves that his cookie and pop pop are my momma and daddy.  it seems that he's surprised by that every single time i mention it.  it's almost as if it makes more sense for them to have been put on earth solely for the purpose of being his cookie and pop pop.  NOT as my parents.  :)

he loves for me to really be in depth.  he likes the story to be long. and detailed.  and he loves to know what cookie said.  or what pop pop did.  he often asks what sugar looked like then.  he can't seem to wrap his mind around sugar and me being his age.

he's at such a wonderful, fun age.  i love him with every single fiber of my being.  so much so that i worry sometimes i'll kill anyone who messes with him.

like...for reals.

peek a boo.

to say that max loves pratt....well, it's an understatement.  you won't believe me, unless you see it with your own eyes.  and this video doesn't do it justice.

but i tried.  and so i must document it here.

max isn't an easy crowd.  at all.  but whatever pratt does, max thinks it's the greatest.

just the way it should be.

oh.  and yes, lightening mcqueen and mater are regulars around our house.  they come to play. they eat dinner. they even order their own donut holes.  but they don't need their own milk.  or capri suns.  because well, they bring their own drinks.  at least, that's what pratt thinks.

and i have NO IDEA why max looks like teen wolf's child in that still shot.  it could be a wee bit of foreshadowing.  i'll start stocking up on the nads now....

martina's baby.

yes.  that's my baby with NO miracle blanket.  like, not even around his tummy.

let freedom ring! let the white doves sing!

he's been night waking.  for no reason.  he's not hungry.  just up.  and i figured out why last night.  because he wakes (like normal) and then gets so freaking mad about the swaddle that he gets all hot and bothered.  and that wakes him up and he can't soothe himself to sleep.

after him being up from 140 until 320, i had given up.  i totally unswaddled him.  and just put him down.  he whined for about 5 seconds.  then he began to play.  with his feet, his hands, etc.  i just watched in amazement.

i'm not silly enough to believe that this has solved my problems.  BUT i do know that he eventually has to learn to play in his crib.  and roll over in there.  and he can't do that when he's in his blanket.  with his hands at his sides.

i watched him fall asleep about 10 minutes after i put him down.  his little eyes would open and close.  open and close.  then he just quietly fell asleep.  he slept until 7 am.  rock my face off, max.

on a side note. pratt asked me yesterday if he would always be pratt. or if when he was a "big buuu" would he be someone different.  he can't say "boy".  it sounds like "buu" like buck.  what is that?  like a long u?  idk.  it's really funny though.

anyway, i told him that he would always be pratt.  but that he could change his name if he wanted.  i gave him options.  he said no.  his response as if to clarify and let me know what he was really thinking,

i didn't realize (he says with his head tilted to the side and his shoulders up) that i'd be the same person.  but actually, i'm good with that.

obviously he's trying to cram all the big people words/phrases into one sentence.  well, except "all of a sudden".  he likes that one A LOT. so, so funny.

my apple.

one of my sister's favorite movies as a child was grease 2.

there is this part in the movie where the band is practicing on the football field.  and the ditsy secretary is yelling, "rydell high! beat the cavaliers!" well, spencer and i always thought it was "rydell high! 50 cavaliers!"

i don't know why.  but it totally made sense to us.  we never questioned it.

also, there was this house on a hill headed to little rock.  i always assumed that was "mountain home".  yes, the town.  give me a break.  i was like 8.  well, maybe 10.  whatever.

long road to a small house...

we downloaded a new cut the rope for pratt a few days ago.

"cut the rope, experiment".  it's a good one.  has a scientist and everything.

he's started asking for that specific one.  not the original one.  but the "experiment" one.

well, last night we were pulling into the driveway when he asked for a piece of gum.  i handed him one.  he asked me what kind it was and if it was hot.  i said no, that it was "spearmint"gum.

he goes, "oh! yes, mom! just like cut the rope! cut the rope, spearmint!"

i smiled and said yes.  just like cut the rope, spearmint.  because it was just too cute to correct.

and because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, we were driving to my parent's condo a few weeks ago.  you go over a big bridge, and then, there to your right, is the condo.  he knows they live in hot springs.  and i didn't realize it, but "hot springs" to him means the condo.  literally, THE condo.

so as we top the bridge, he sees the condo and says, "there's hot springs! we're here! yay!"

so sweet.

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
