kdo egg hunt.

how excited is this little guy to have his first easter egg hunt!?

he carried the eggs around all morning long. we stopped at walgreens and filled them with his (and his momma's) favorite candy: plain m&ms.

he sat in the back of the car while i filled the eggs. and every once in a while, he'd catch a stray m&m and gobble it up before i could grab it from him.

and here he is using them as a pillow. he's so weird. he does this with anything and everything. puts it behind his head. hilarious.

how do you spell 'grandpa'?

i love hearing stories from clint's family about him when he was little.

one of my favorite stories came from grandma. apparently, one day when clint was staying with them, he wrote his name on grandpa's new front porch swing.

used a black marker and everything. wrote "clint" on it.

when he went to show grandma, she said, "oh clint. grandpa is going to be so upset. that's his new swing."

and without missing a beat, clint said, "how do you spell 'grandpa'?"

so cute, huh?

and so today, when i was attempting to clean the kitchen floors, i hear pratt saying, "uh oh. uh oh" over and over again in the den. i didn't know what i was going to find.

when i walked in, he was standing at the recliner. where he had done this...

lucky for him, the magic eraser really is magic and his daddy never had to see what pratt had done to his favorite recliner.

and grandma, i asked clint if he got in trouble and he said no. that he never, ever remembered getting in trouble for anything he did at y'all's house. why am i not surprised? oh...because nana will never, ever get on to pratt for anything either. grandparents are the best. :)

bubbles.

pratt has discovered how to blow bubbles on his own. like with his own saliva.

sounds gross, i know.

clint's response when he saw it happening: "wow. he really is smart. i didn't figure out how to do that until i was in like...the 3rd grade or something."

and that response pretty much sums up what goes on at our house from day to day.

pick a winner.

so. no, this isn't about boogers.

it's about horseracing. and racing forms.

and how pratt already...at such a young age...can pick a winner.

and coco, there were highlighters involved...you just can't see them. but i think you can see their markings on his left hand. a green one to be exact. i knew you'd appreciate that.

the park.

it is 77 degrees outside right now. 77. really pretty warm.

so we went to the park. and for the first time, pratt slid down the slide all by himself.

i'm pretty sure he could/should have done this alone by now, but i'm overbearing. and i worry. but today, i let it all go. and let him crawl up the slide and slide down it all alone.

he LOVED it. the entire way down, he screamed and laughed. so funny. i had to catch him or else he totally would have slid off and been airborne. you know, at 22 pounds, a strong wind might pick him up.

he also loved looking for fish in the creek. and seeing bubbles.

oh, and he held his first ladybug today too. there were several of them on a piece of the jungle gym. he thought they were great. i showed him how to put his hand out and have them crawl on. he kept laughing and was so careful with them. such a gentle little guy.

hope you all enjoyed your tuesdays too!

18 month stats.

we had our 18 month check up today.

and well, it's official. we got the wrong baby 18 months ago. here's why.

our child is in the 95% for height. go back and read that again, folks. 95%. that means he is as tall or taller than 95 out of 100 kids his age. this was funny at first. like when he was 22 inches at birth. and then he continued to be tall. and i continued to say it would eventually catch up with him. but no. apparently, he will be tall. our doctor said that you can usually double their height when they are 2 years old and see how tall they will be. so, if he continues on that path...he will be somewhere around 6'1" or 6'2".

so, he currently measures in at 35.5 inches.

now for the uh, worst news. he weighs 22 pounds. which puts him in the 8%. yes. the dude is skinny. super dooper skinny.

he should be drinking around 32 ounces of milk a day. gross. i hate milk. and pratt isn't really all that cool with it either. he doesn't drink juice...but water. and so he told me to only give him milk in his sippy cup. no water. i wish someone would tell me no water.

he also told me to start putting butter and cream in everything he eats. he really did say this. and not to let him get full on fruit. the kid easily puts away 5 cuties and 1 cup of strawberries everytime he sits down for a meal.

he told me that i could feel good about taking him to sonic and ordering everything on the menu. i won't go that far...but we will try to fatten him up. and from now on, pratt's nickname is jack spratt.

everything else was good. he still has a pretty bad cough, even after starting the zyrtec. so dr. s started us on singulair for kids. it's a powder, i think. i'll mix it with water. he told me to try it for a month. he thinks that it's maybe asthma and allergies. if this doesn't work, we will go to an inhaler. so my prayer is that this will work. it's just nice to have him be concerned about it. he heard him cough and said it did sound terrible, and that a runny nose and cough in a toddler isn't "normal".

as we were leaving, dr. s. said, "bye bye pratt." and pratt said the same thing.

then dr. s. said, "i love you buddy."

let me just tell you. i almost started crying. right there in front of him. i love that man. i really do. he's the best pediatrican we could have ever been given. he was referred to us by the doctor in the nicu at st. vincent, and man...i should write dr. zuerlein a thank you note. because he really is the best.

people don't just say those things. and when someone does, you know they mean it.

pratt blew him a kiss and we got our vaccine and then we headed to sonic for french fries and a banana milkshake.

we are so thankful for our healthy little boy.

dear pratt.

dear pratt,

your daddy cannot handle putting you to bed. well, he can do it, but as soon as you cry, he's done. and he can't leave you in the bed.

your mom...well, i can. because i know that sleeping is good for you. i mean, i won't let you be upset for more than 5 to 10 minutes...but daddy...well, daddy won't let you be upset for more than 5 seconds.

here is proof.

he's leaning over your bed, rubbing your face. most likely singing you to sleep. this was after he swayed back and forth with you for a good ten minutes. you wouldn't let go of him tonight. he loved it. he really, really loved it.

we love you. sweet dreams.

love, mean ole mommy who makes you sleep.
you know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. - dr. seuss

About Me

My photo
i'm a girl who likes to write. not a girl that's necessarily good at writing. it's cathartic, i think. and boy do i need that from time to time. i married a wonderful man named clint in may of 2007. he is everything i am not. he is calm. he makes plans. he is organized. his truck is always clean. his clothes are hung by types of shirt/color/size/etc. i'm full of nervous energy. i'm spur of the moment. i can't ever find what i'm looking for. we live in my car...pretty much. i'm lucky if my clothes are within ten feet of my closet. God gave us a precious angel of a baby in september of 2008. his name is pratt allen. he is 2.5 years old.we have another little one on the way. his name is max wesley. and he is due may 19th. somehow i'll be the mother of two boys. craaaaa.zy. i spend my days cleaning house. picking worms and caterpillars out of the flower beds. cooking meals. shopping at target. washing clothes. playing on the floor. reading books. doing puzzles. traveling to sonic. and the library. and blogging. i hope you enjoy our blog. feel free to leave a comment. hopefully it's a nice one. i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
